Today marks the day that Blygold International and the GoodShipping Program enter into a cooperation agreement, with the goal to decarbonize container shipping and phase out the extremely polluting heavy fuel oil used in the shipping industry.

Blygold International, an innovative and forward-thinking company offering solutions that focus on lifetime extension, energy saving and cost reduction for Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) equipment, is active in over 55 countries worldwide. As from July 1st 2018, all their PoluAl products will be shipped using second-generation biofuels via the GoodShipping Program.

Blygold international is proud

Maarten van der Meer, Managing Director at Blygold International, is proud to be the first company in his branch to join the GoodShipping Program. “We read about the opportunity to ship sea freight on biofuels in Evo Fenedex magazine and were instantly interested. For a company like Blygold, where we work with freight forwarders for shipping our sea freight, it has always been difficult to minimize the impact of that part of our supply chain. GoodShipping makes this possible, with an easy and adaptable solution.”

Blygold International is a true pioneer

Anniek Sluis, Growth Accelerator at the GoodShipping Program, says she is very impressed with the way Blygold is approaching their corporate social responsibility. “As a family-owned company, Blygold seems to have sustainability in their DNA. The fact that they are aware of the climate problems that the international marine industry causes, and their willingness to invest in changing this, shows how forward-thinking they are as a company. Being the first for-profit company to join the GoodShipping Program, Blygold International is a true pioneer when it comes to sustainability."

GoodShipping and Blygold International have entered into an agreement for one year, based on the expected sea freight volumes for Blygold. This means that as from today, all PoluAl products (which make out about 75% of all Blygold’s sea freight) will be shipped to their global destinations with second-generation biofuels.
