Why join

Shipping goods? Read this.

The marine industry burns the dirtiest fuels in the world. Today, sea shipping is a fast-growing source of greenhouse gases, projected to account for 17% of global CO2-emissions by 2050. On top of that, the shipping industry is the 6th-highest emitting “country” and a major source of black carbon emissions.

International legislation

The International Maritime Organization, as the UN’s regulatory body for the shipping industry, is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions from international shipping with at least 50% by 2050. The first strategy for this is expected to be set in place in 2023. However, why wait on changing the level of sustainability of your company’s international shipments, when you can be a pioneer today?

Why act?

Joining the GoodShipping Program will not only make your containers shipped carbon-neutral, you will also be able to show other businesses that it is easy and about time to think further than their own backyard. We welcome you to join our global community of corporations that demonstrate leadership in the field of sustainability by helping us change the norm in the shipping industry.

Dopper wants to save the planet in all sorts of areas; that’s in our DNA. We are glad to be the front-runner, to inspire others. We show it really can be done differently and more sustainably. In any discipline. It’s fantastic to see other sustainable initiatives like GoodShipping do the same.

Scope 1, 2 and… 3

Customers demand more transparency and our climate demands change. Businesses that understand this mostly focus on their scope 1 and 2 emissions – the emissions that are caused directly by their business owned entities.

We hope you realize your scope 3 emissions – emitted as a consequence of your business activities – are just as important for our climate. Because no-one can change this for the better when you ship your goods via the container shipping industry, but you.

We have made it easy for all companies that have sea shipping as part of their supply chain,  to join the program in a way that fits their company’s goals. Our service does not affect your current operations, geography or logistical partners.

Joining our program is proof that you take climate change as serious as it is. By doing what is necessary for our climate, your business will set a new norm for other businesses: that doing shipments for the lowest price possible is no longer the most sustainable option.

We welcome you to be part of a global community of like-minded companies that demonstrate leadership in the field of sustainability. This way we can influence local and international decision-makers to develop necessary marine incentive schemes.
